I hate dinner. Let me rephrase that, I hate dinner now that I have kids. Because really, I love food. I love any excuse to eat food. I would just enjoy it a lot more if I didn’t have to eat anywhere near my kids.
Dinner with toddlers is always a fight. Always.
1. “I don’t like ______*
What else is new? You don’t like ANYTHING.
2. “Sit down. Sit down and eat. Eat. Eat. EAT YOUR FOOD.”
Why do I even care?? DON’T EAT!!! I mean seriously, you don’t want to eat? Go away and let ME eat.
3. “I don’t want to eat this. I want something else.”
Okay, go learn to cook and make it yourself.
4. “Sit down in your seat. Please sit down. Sit down. SIT DOWN.”
Why can’t you just sit and eat? Whyyyyyyy do you insist on playing musical chairs?
5. “I’m not hungry.”
Really??? Really??? Then I hope you don’t ask for a snack like I KNOW you’re going to do in about half an hour!
I seriously don’t remember being this difficult at mealtimes with my parents. It just wasn’t a freakin option. You ate what was made and if you didn’t like it, tough shit. What am I doing wrong?! Do your kids do this at meal time? Isabella will not eat anything (no veggies of any kind and is super picky about everything else), acts like a total jerk throughout the meal, and we can’t get Ivy to sit in her seat longer than 3 minutes before she wants to sit in someone’s lap or run around the house and come back for you to feed her bites here and there.
Dinner is so incredibly frustrating. Am I just screwed until they’re older? I kind of want to just give them PB&J’s every night and eat dinner alone in my office. I think eating dinner together every night is really important but #()@#*$)@#*!@#!@!!!! it’s making me want to cry every night!
